Walden Diary (2025) is an appropriation of Henry David Thoreau’s Walden.

 

Masha Solus transforms the pages of the book into a personal journal, filling them with handwritten reflections, selected quotations, and blue ink drawings executed in her signature inversion technique. Created as a continuous leporello, the work interweaves the artist’s intimate thoughts with Thoreau’s meditations on solitude, simplicity, and human connection to nature, continuing her ongoing exploration of memory, appropriation, and the distortion of reality.
